The Counseling Associates Psychology Internship Program (CAPIP) is a full-time, 12-month doctoral internship located in New Hampshire that follows a practitioner-scholar model of training. The program is designed to prepare interns for competent, ethical, and independent practice as professional psychologists through a strong emphasis on supervised clinical service delivery, evidence-based practice, and professional identity development.
Interns provide clinical services in an outpatient private practice setting and work with diverse populations across the lifespan, including individuals, couples, and families from rural, urban, and underserved communities. Training experiences include individual, couple, family, and group psychotherapy, psychological assessment, crisis intervention, consultation, and participation in interdisciplinary care when available. Primary training areas include trauma-informed care, anxiety and mood disorders, eating disorders, serious mental illness, and substance use treatment.
The program places strong emphasis on cultural humility, ethical practice, and professional development. Interns receive weekly individual and group supervision from licensed psychologists, as well as structured didactic seminars that cover core professional competencies such as assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, ethics, diversity, and self-care. CAPIP is committed to fostering a supportive and collaborative training environment that encourages professional growth, reflective practice, and lifelong learning.
