Deep Eddy Psychotherapy's Doctoral Internship Program was granted APA "accredited, on contigency" status starting on May 3, 2024
At Deep Eddy Psychotherapy, we are proud to offer a dynamic and growth-oriented APA-accredited doctoral internship in clinical psychology. Located in Austin, Texas, our private group practice is home to a diverse team of over 150 highly skilled clinicians who are passionate about depth-oriented therapy, social justice, and building authentic community. Our practice is grounded in connection, integrity, and excellence in clinical care—and we bring those same values to our training programs.
As a doctoral intern at Deep Eddy Psychotherapy, you’ll experience a rich blend of clinical work, training, and supervision designed to support your growth as a thoughtful, competent, and compassionate clinician. Interns typically provide 23–24 hours of direct clinical services each week, working with individuals, couples, families, and/or groups. This allows for deep engagement in long-term psychotherapy with diverse client populations.
Your training experience is equally robust. You’ll participate in four 12-week didactic rotations that focus on essential clinical themes such as Couples Therapy, Trauma, Family Therapy, and Minding the Heart. These training experiences are both theoretical and experiential, designed to deepen your clinical insight and intervention skills. You'll also have the opportunity to attend regular all-practice trainings and have the option to join various consultation groups tailored to your areas of interest. Across all trainings, there’s an emphasis on cultural humility, self-reflection, and personal and professional development within a supportive and inclusive environment.
Supervision is a central and valued part of our training model. Interns receive a minimum of two hours of individual, one-on-one supervision with a licensed psychologist each week, as well as two hours of group supervision facilitated by the Director and/or Assistant Director of Doctoral Internship. Supervision at Deep Eddy is rooted in an integrated developmental model that encourages openness, clinical curiosity, and continuous growth. To help support early development, interns are required to record their sessions during the first three months, creating opportunities for deeper reflection and meaningful feedback. Supervisors collaborate with other trainers involved in the intern’s development to ensure feedback is well-rounded, thoughtful, and supportive.
Interns also have the opportunity to develop skills as clinical supervisors by co-facilitating individual and/or group supervision for Master’s Internship and Doctoral Practicum (MIDP) students. This happens on a bi-weekly basis and offers interns a valuable chance to explore their emerging identity as supervisors. Under guidance from the MIDP Director and their own supervisors, interns support students in case conceptualization, professional growth, and navigating clinical challenges—all while being supported in their own journey through reflective supervision.
Together, these experiences create a training year that is both rigorous and nurturing—rooted in connection, reflection, and a shared commitment to clinical excellence.

Our Ideal Applicant
We are especially interested in applicants who are open to deepening their work with clients through long-term, here-and-now therapy using relational, mindfulness-based, somatic, or other experiential approaches. We are excited to welcome interns who are eager to expand their skills in these meaningful and transformative modalities.
As our practice continues to grow in response to a rising demand for high-quality care, we are also looking to invest in clinicians who may be interested in building a long-term professional home with us in Austin after completing their internship (and hopefully postdoctoral training). One of the most cherished aspects of working at Deep Eddy is our vibrant, supportive community. We truly believe that our sense of connection—with one another and with our clients—is central to the excellent care we provide. We hope that during your internship year, you’ll not only gain valuable clinical experience but also feel the warmth and camaraderie of our team, and perhaps envision Austin and Deep Eddy as your long-term home.
