The Internship Selection Committee will review all of the submitted applications. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants will have the opportunity to meet and interview with clinical supervisors during the interview process.

Program Description

  • Throughout the internship year, interns are required to participate in multiple experiential training activities which include the following:

    • Therapy: Interns will maintain a weekly caseload of 20 clinical hours, which may include individual, family, couples, and/or group therapy. Interns will also attend team consultation meetings, which depending on their elected rotations may include DBT, DBT for Children, Eating Disorders, and/or Intensive Outpatient Exposure and Response Prevention Programming.
    • Assessment: Interns will complete a minimum of two comprehensive psychological evaluations over the course of the training year. Interns are required to integrate their clinical findings in written reports for both evaluations. Interns have the opportunity to also complete more than two psychological evaluations during their training year, but are only required to complete at least two as a minimum requirement.
    • Clinical Research: Interns can also opt to develop research and programming skills by electing to participate in a clinical research project in which he or she will provide clinical outcome data to a program within Potomac Behavioral Solutions. This is an optional training experience that interns are not required to undertake during their internship.
    • Supervision: Interns receive four weekly hours of supervision; two of these hours consist of individual supervision with licensed psychologists.
    • Didactic training: Interns receive two weekly hours of didactic trainings. The topics discussed during the didactic seminars include professional ethics, diagnosis and treatment planning, diversity and cultural issues, evidence-based treatments, case presentations, assessment considerations, and career development to name a few.
