Following the APPIC guidelines given the current COVID-19 pandemic, interviews will be conducted virtually. The Internship Selection Committee will review all of the submitted applications and decide who will be contacted for interviews. Candidates will be contacted by phone to coordinate an interview day. Applicants will have the opportunity to meet and interview with three licensed clinical psychologists, including the Director of Clinical Training.

Program Description

  • Interns will attend the team meeting of each placement/rotation. All services are completed at the office at Potomac Behavioral Solutions. 

    • An example full-time internship sequence of training may include: 

      • Interns will carry 8-10 DBT cases through the 12 month internship

      • Interns will then select two of five optional rotations at the beginning of the onboarding process for internship and the cases will be seen throughout the internship year. Interns will also be attending team meetings for selected rotations. This will include 5 additional patient contacts and two hours of team meetings weekly. 

      • Two psychological evaluations will be completed by the end of the internship year. One will be completed in the first six months of training and the second in the second six months of training

Primary DBT Placement: (3 Interns, 5 days per week, unless noted differently):

    • Carry a caseload of at least 8 DBT individual cases including adolescent and adult cases and 1 DBT skills class. 

Choose two of the following optional rotations:

  1. Eating Disorders

  2. Intensive Outpatient Exposure and Response Prevention Programming 

  3. Radically Open DBT 

  4. General Mental Health

  5. DBT-Child
