Brief description of the typical work day for an intern at this training site A typical weekly schedule would include attending Board Report each morning on the assigned unit. After Board report, depending on the needs and goals of the intern, the intern would accompany the assigned unit psychologist during 1:1 sessions and assessments which take place during treatment mall hours. As time progresses, the intern will develop more autonomy in meeting with patients for individual sessions and assessments. During the week, interns will have set supervisions times and didactic hours.

Program Description

Cherry Hospital, part of the NC Department of Health and Human Services, is located in Goldsboro, North Carolina, about 50 miles from Raleigh and 45 miles from Greenville.  Interns have the opportunity to gain extensive experience with a broad array of patients with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). Three primary rotations of four months duration are required. Interns typically do three rotations on three separate services, but an intern can do more than one rotation on a service based on individual training needs. We will be accepting applications for two internship positions. Our deadline for applications is December 15th, 2020. Our benefits include a minimum stipend of $25,648, 80 hours of PTO and 12 days of paid holiday leave. Up to 10% time per week can be used for research/professional development and counted as internship hours.
