Initial application screening is completed by the Training Director. Applicants who fail to meet minimum requirements or who raise significant red flags will be removed from the applicant pool early in the selection process to increase efficiency of application review. The Intern Selection Committee members are asked to review the materials of the applicants. Training Director will contact the remaining applicants to schedule a Zoom interview. Each applicant is interviewed by at least two staff members by asking standard interview questions. All applicants who are interviewed are invited to visit the Counseling Center on a designated optional Virtual Open House day. The Selection Intern Committee meets to determine the ranking of applicants. A list containing the desired applicants in order of their ranking is then sent to the National Matching Service prior to the assigned date.
Our mission is to provide quality training, necessary to facilitate the transitional process from graduate student to an independently practicing psychologist. Our training Model is the Practitioner-Scholar Model, which emphasizes service delivery based on the integration of scientific principles, research, clinical judgment, and client values. Training is designed to provide a supervised and supportive learning environment in which interns continue to develop and refine their skills and abilities in various competency areas and gradually assume increased clinical responsibility. Interns are encouraged and supported in cultivating their own professional style as they progress toward the role of an autonomous psychologist.
