Brief description of the typical work day for an intern at this training site Interns will engage in duties of a staff psychologist in a University Counseling Center setting while receiving intensive training and supervision. A typical work day for an intern includes a mix of direct contact clinical hours (initial consultations, individual therapy, group therapy, outreach), attending didactic trainings, receiving individual supervision, and administrative time for documentation, preparation, etc.

Interview process description:

Individual, 45 minute video interviews will be conducted via Zoom with members of the psychology training committee and post-doctoral fellows of the Counseling Center. Interviews will take place between December 11th and December 19th.  Applicants will be notified of invitation interviews via email by December 9, 2024.

Program Description

The doctoral psychology internship program at the UNCW Counseling Center is a 2000 hour, full-time, year-long internship.  Throughout the year, the internship provides a wide range of opportunities for supervised training in a variety of clinical areas, including individual counseling, group therapy, and the provision of supervision. The Counseling Center also takes an active role in preventative outreach and campus engagement, and interns are provided with many opportunities to cultivate their program development, consultative, and outreach skills.
