We maintain a private practice model for our interns, allowing them to have some flexibility and control with their schedules. Our training provide the interns a wide range of topics and information. The ability to interact with a diverse population and participate in creative tasks enhances their experience.
Brief description of the typical work day for an intern at this training site Everyday is different, offering a multitude of opportunities for interns with assessment, testing and treatment for clinical and forensic cases. The practice is fast paced but offers a great deal of support for our interns both formally and informally. Group training sessions are held every Monday afternoon.

Interview process description:

Interviews will be conducted by video conferencing. In lieu of an on-site visit, a video will be presented providing a tour of Desert Psychological. This provides an opportunity for interviewees to get a feel for the routine at the office.  Interviews will follow the guidelines that APPIC has reccomended regarding dates. There will be two interviews and a writing exercise after the initial interivew. Practicum supervisors will be contacted as one of the references. There will an opportunity to meet with other interns and ask questions as well as meet with staff.   

APPIC has recommended we mention that post match we require an FBI Criminal Background check be performed.  Your employment could be terminated based upon negative results from that report.  You will be given a copy and an opportunity to provide an explanation.

We specialize in assessments for children and adults as well as forensic work for both Family Court and Youth Parole. Therapy for children and their families as well as for adults is also conducted.

We are looking for 6 Interns in the following positions: 

4 focus on Clinical -  Children and Adolescent Assessments (Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply)

2 focus on Forensics - Family Court, Custody Evaluations,  Juveniles/Youth and Parole/Substance Abuse treatment
