Brief description of the typical work day for an intern at this training site A typical work day for an intern includes some combination of seeing clients for psychotherapy, psychological evaluations, consultation and supervision, and didactic training. All interns participate in 2 hours of individual supervision, 2 hours general group supervision, 1 hour specialty-focused group supervision, and 1 hour of interprofessional consultation each week. A minimum of 8 hours of didactic training is provided each month.

Interview process description:

Interviews will be either on Thursday, January 6 or Friday, January 7, 2022.  Applicants will be notified by phone and email if invited to be interviewed.  The format includes both group and individual interviews with multiple staff with opportunities to connect with current pre-doctoral interns as well as other staff when requested.  We offer both in-person and virtual nterview options.  Interviews will be conducted by the Training Director, Program Faculty, and current Doctoral Psychology Interns and Post-Doctoral Psychology Residents.

Program Description

The Natalis Psychology Training Program (NPTP) (previously known as the Twin Cities Psychology Internship Consortium) doctoral psychology internship is designed in accordance with APPIC standards to provide broad and general preparation for entry-level practice of professional psychology.  The goal of the program is to provide a diverse set of experiences to enable a select number of highly qualified doctoral psychology interns to develop expertise in community-based treatment and assessment.

NPTP provides a broad range of training opportunities for doctoral interns in health service psychology.  Clinical opportunities are available at behavioral health and primary care clinics located across the Twin Cities metropolitan area and include the following:

Natalis Woodbury (formerly Counseling Psychologists of Woodbury)

Natalis Woodbury is the primary training site for NPTP. This clinic houses a medium-sized, interdisciplinary independent psychology group practice located within the large suburban community of Woodbury, MN. This site offers psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families, psychological assessment, and community education, serving patients of all ages.  Doctoral interns can specialize in working with adults, children and adolescents. Natalis Woodbury administers the integrated behavioral healthcare programs at Central & Priority Pediatrics and Child & Teen Medical Centers.

Natalis University Avenue

Natalis University Avenue is a large, interdisciplinary independent psychology group practice located on the light rail system in the heart of St. Paul.  This clinic offers a broad array of services, including outpatient psychotherapy, intensive day treatment, DBT groups, psychiatry and medication management, and psychological evaluations.  Some of these services are provided through the schools. A mobile psychological assessment team provides evaluations for local hospitals and medical clinics.  At this clinic, doctoral interns will have opportunities to work with immigrant and refugee patients, sometimes with an interpreter present.

Natalis White Bear is a small, interdisciplinary independent psychology group practice located in the inner rung suburb of White Bear Lake, MN.  This clinic offers a broad array of services, including outpatient psychotherapy, DBT groups, psychiatry and medication management, and psychological evaluations.  Doctoral interns have opportunities to specialize in services focused on sexual health at this location.

Natalis Energy Park (formerly River City Clinic)

Natalis Energy Park is a small, interdisciplinary independent psychology group practice located in an inner-city suburb of St. Paul, Roseville, MN, and provides outpatient psychological services to patients of all ages.  Doctoral interns have opportunities to provide psychological services including psychotherapy and psychological evaluations embedded within a small group practice where collaboration is key.
