Site Name: Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center
Department: Psychology
Conemaugh strives to provide clear information about the opportunities of our internship while learning the strengths and training goals of applicants. Interviews will include individual time with the training director and faculty as well as current interns. In addition, interviews will also include opportunities for discussion with various rotation staff members and additional health personnel.
At this time, we will consider the option of in-person interviews, pending the community health situation relative to the interview dates. Our paramount concern is the safety of all persons involved throughout the interview process. Conemaugh will follow the guidelines recommended through APPIC with regard to any potential in-person interview. Conemaugh reassures every potential applicant that ALL interviews--regarless of in-person or virtual--will be conducted ultilizing the same evaluation process and no preference will be given to any applicant regardless of interview format.
The doctoral internship in behavioral health/primary care psychology provides an opportunity to work in an integrated care setting (Leval 1 Trauma Center / Regional Hospital) with family medicine resident physicians and other health care professionals. Interns gain experience as part of an integrated healthcare team, assessing health risk, providing psychology assessments and group/individual therapy for patients with multiple health and/or mental health issues. While serving a general population, there is an emphasis on special populations, including patients with HIV, trauma, diabetes, heart disease, cardiac, Free Clinic, and bariatric surgery. There are opportunities for inpatient consultation-liaison, treatment of substance abuse (Suboxone program), and teaching. Deadline for applications November 14, 2022. Please contact Lindsay Panick for application information (814-534-9363; email LPanick@conemaugh.org), or our website https://gme.conemaugh.org/resident-programs/psychology-internship
