***All 3 dates below are currently tentative***

  • Monday, 1/10/2022 (9:00-12:00 or 10:30-1:30 Pacific Time)
  • Tuesday, 1/18/2022 (1:30-4:30p or 3:00-6:00p Pacific Time)

We will interview approximately 36 applicants in total. Each applicant will have three half-hour individual interviews (with one or two interviewers in each interview). Additionally, we will provide a group presentation and informational Q&A with several members of our psychology staff and current interns, as well as time alone with one or more current interns. The total time required of each applicant on an interview day is three hours (see above listing of times).

Each applicant invited to interview will be notified by email and will be scheduled on an available date and time in order of email response. Some days fill up faster than others, so a quicker response will help toward potentially receiving a top choice for interview date and time.

Program Description

WYS is a child and family community mental health agency serving the needs of vulnerable children in Orange County.  Doctoral interns provide, and are trained in evidence-based family therapy (including FFT), evidence-based child therapy (including PCIT), trauma therapy (including TF-CBT and ITCT), psychological testing, and consultation with behavioral, school, and social services staff.  Western Youth Services currently has 10 licensed psychologists who all participate in one or more aspects of the training program (e.g. teaching, supervision, co-therapy).  Our training program exists in 1 agency, but within 3 different clinics.  Intern positions are located in Anaheim, Fountain Valley, and Santa Ana.  Interns are required to have transportation during work hours as seminars occur in several of our locations, and clients may be seen in the clinic or in the schools.  All clinics provide opportunities for evidence based trainings to include Functional Family Therapy (FFT), Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Parent Child Interaction Training (PCIT), and dyadic play therapy.  Additional training is available on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Resilience.
