Applicants will be informed by email regarding their interview status by December 15th. Virtual interviews lasting approximately 45 minutes are conducted by the selection committee (typically consisting of 5 members including current interns) and occur mid-January. The interview includes a case presentation in which information regarding "a client" will be sent to the applicant prior to the interview. Applicants are welcome to contact current interns and staff to address any additional questions or concerns they may have.
The doctoral internship at UVU prepares the intern for competent and ethical practice as a generalist psychologist. A variety of training opportunities are provided with an emphasis in providing effective individual, couples, and group therapy, psychological assessment, and crisis intervention to the university's diverse student body. Tailoring the internship to meet the goals and needs of interns is a priority and opportunities to meet these needs can include teaching, research, specific modality training, outreach, community resource consultation, and didactic trainings. All members of the SHS Staff embrace multiculturalism and diversity in all aspects of our work, and we seek interns with a keen interest and demonstrated experience in working with diverse clientele and programming.
