Our clinic fosters professional development through balanced and extensive supervision that affords consistent guidance, encouragement for self-reflection and awareness, and support for increased autonomy and growth. The established training program at SVPS maintains the utmost attention to current research and literature, considerations for diversity, effective multidisciplinary collaboration, and professional ethics. We strive to provide the highest quality training environment and rich clinical opportunities that propel trainees into creative, unique, and fulfilling careers in clinical psychology. In order to support the overarching goals of the Clinical Psychology Training Program, our year-long curriculum includes many clinically diverse components. Interns provide a broad range of treatment services at our outpatient clinic, including play therapy, individual psychotherapy, family psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, couples therapy, and parent guidance services, as well as conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations incorporating psychological, neuropsychological, and developmental facets of assessment. On a weekly basis, interns assume leadership roles in our intake department, as well as participate in therapy supervision, diagnostic supervision, group supervision, and didactic and experiential seminars that include rotating clinical topics, case presentations, and trainings emphasizing the integration of professional literature and clinical practice. SVPS also offers specialized programming, in which interns are encouraged to engage, including: Developmental & Special Needs Services, Adopt-Adapt-Attach, and School & Community Enrichment. Please note that SVPS specifically offers formal training from a dynamic lens, with a particular emphasis on attachment-based approaches. Thus, only applicants who have had prior experience and/or are interested in acquiring a background working from these theoretical perspectives will be considered for review. Please note that our Clinical Psychology Doctoral Internship Program remains fully in-tact, with our clinic at large and all training-related experiences entirely operational, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
