The UTPPIC will be offering virtual interviews, with five interview dates to choose from during the month of January. Interview days will include group and individual formats, and applicants will meet with at least three different supervisors on their interview day. We cannot guarantee that an applicant will have the opportunity to meet with all of the supervisors they would like to. Applicants will also have the opportunity to meet with current interns.
Individual interviews on non-interview days may be possible but will place the applicant at a disadvantage to those who participate in the full interview dates.
The UTPPIC consists of several cooperating agencies, both within and outside of the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, which offer a wide variety of training experiences. Interns complete three, 4-month rotations, each with a 24 hr./week major rotation and a 12 hr./week minor rotation, plus weekly seminars and optional "add-on" experiences chosen by the intern. Some research experiences are available as well. Each intern will train at at least four different sites over the course of the year, and the intern's training program is individually designed to meet his/her training needs. The program follows a scholar-practitioner model with a focus on clinical training that is supported by the current psychological literature. Value is placed on knowledge and training in evidence-based practices.
Three training tracks are offered: a General Track, a St. Jude Pediatric Track, and a St. Jude Neuropsychology Track. Interns on the St. Jude tracks will spend most of their time at St. Jude Children's Hospital, while also participating in training experiences at other consortium sites of their choosing. Training experiences for interns on all tracks are primarily child-focused. Current consortium training sites offer experiences in the following areas: working with youth in medical settings, child welfare and trauma-informed care, developmental disabilities, forensic evaluations, inpatient consultation/liasion services, neuropsychology, and outpatient psychotherapy. Interns work with several different supervisors across the year and will be exposed to a variety of interventions and approaches.
