Program Description

With an emphasis on research and evidence-based practice, the program promotes a scientist-practitioner training model. The training program is one of the longest running APA-accredited programs in the United States, having attained accreditation in 1957. Client populations include children/adolescents with histories of behavior/conduct problems and trauma; children/adolescents with autism; and children/adolescents/adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The primary orientation of training faculty is behavioral/cognitive behavioral. Training tracks provide a non-rotational, in-depth, full-immersion experience. Professional development opportunities are available. Four hours of supervision is provided on a weekly basis. Group supervision occurs bi-weekly. Devereux is a member of the Clinical Child and Pediatric Psychology Training Council (CCaPPTC). The purpose of CCaPPTC is to promote the advancement of graduate and post-graduate education and training within the fields of clinical child and adolescent psychology, and pediatric psychology. The following tracks offer training in the CCaPPTC speciality: Center for Effective Schools (CES), Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services (CIDDS), Children's Behavioral Health Services (CBHS),and the Autism Services Program.
