The NYU-Bellevue Predoctoral Psychology Internship Program consists of three tracks: The Adult Psychology Track provides interns with experience in psychotherapy and assessment from a variety of theoretical perspectives. Although there is an emphasis on clinical work with adults, interns work with a diverse spectrum of patients in terms of age, demographics and clinical presentation. The Child & Adolescent Psychology Track operates in collaboration with the Hassenfeld Children's Hospital at NYU Langone-Child Study Center, which emphasizes training in empirically-based, cognitive-behavioral interventions with children and families. Interns will also carry a small adult caseload, and will see child and adolescent patients at both NYC Health & Hospitals/Bellevue and the NYU Child Study Center. The Forensic Track operates in collaboration with the Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center, a maximum-security state psychiatric/correctional facility located on Ward's Island. Training, which occurs both at Bellevue and Kirby, will emphasize the assessment and treatment of patients who have concurrent involvement in the legal/penal systems. Interns will also carry a caseload of non-forensic patients in various modalities. Despite the existence of separate tracks, the internship is one cohesive program. All 13 interns will gain experience treating adults, adolescents and children in individual, group and/or family modalities. Interns will participate together in meetings with the program director, seminars, colloquia, case conferences and a support group. All interns complete three four-month rotations, chosen from a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient options at Health & Hosptials/Bellevue, the NYU Child Study Center, and the Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center. Electives are available to the Adult Track Interns.
