*Due to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, all interviews will be conducted remotely using Zoom*. After the application deadline, a select number of candidates will be interviewed by Psychology Department staff and meet with current psychology interns. For the 2023-2024 class, interviews will be conducted on TUESDAY, JANUARY 10, 2023 AND TUESDAY, JANUARY 17, 2023. Interested applicants are asked to hold these dates in case they are invited for interviews. Each candidate will be informed by Monday, December 12, 2022 as to whether she or he has been invited for an interview.
Each intern is assigned to one of two WJCS’ mental health clinics in Yonkers and Hartsdale. This placement, which lasts for the entire year, is considered the intern’s primary placement. For one to three days each week, the intern conducts individual, family and group therapy, psychological assessments, staff training and consultation to members of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Some interns receive case assignments from specialized programs (e.g., trauma and developmental disabilities) at their primary placement. All interns co-lead at least one DBT group. The intern spends one day participating in supervision and didactics. Psychological testing experience is provided in conducting psychoeducational and other evaluations, in addition to forensic assessment. One half-day per week is formally set aside to perform research to support WJCS clinical activities. In addition, qualified interns are expected to provide supervision to psychology externs and other graduate students. WJCS is a vibrant agency, hosting an exciting array of programs (many cutting edge) that meet diverse community needs. (Consult the WJCS website, www.wjcs.com, for a current listing). The agency will make an effort to give an intern exposure to programs of special interest that meet his or her individual training needs, when other internship requirements have been met.
