Tewksbury Hospital is a 210-bed public health hospital for chronic medical disease and neurological conditions. In addition, it also has a 160 bed inpatient psychiatric unit for seriously and persistently mentally ill adults. It is located on a large public health state hospital campus in a Boston suburb. On the seven medical units, clinical training activities are provided for patients experiencing psychological disorders/stress in combination with traumatic brain injury, stroke, Huntington's disease, multiple sclerosis, dementia and other chronic neurological and physical diseases. The stay for many of the patients on these units is long-term. On the four intermediate care mental health units, patients are typically admitted due to civil commitments transferred from brief private hospitalizations who have serious and persistent mental illness and comorbidities, and some criminal forensically involved patients who may also need evaluations from Courts as well as further treatment. Cognitive behavioral, DBT, ACT, psychodynamic supportive therapy and other supervision for individual and group therapy are the focus. Neuropsychological and psychological consultation and assessment. Predoctoral Clinical Internship Training program, APA-Accredited. 1850 hours.
