Program Description

Interns work with the entire age span but may concentrate on work with children, adolescents or adults. The outpatient clinic serves a very diverse population with regard to race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. There is no dominant theoretical framework. Cognitive, Behavioral, Dynamic, Systems, and Developmental Perspectives are well-represented. The program has a strong team of bilingual (English/Spanish) supervisors and staff. There are opportunities for longer term therapy but outpatient clinics typically adhere to a 20-session model with guidelines for extended therapy. The program is primarily outpatient and community-focused with opportunities to work with an extremely diverse psychiatric population as well as medical populations. Extensive experience in the treatment modalities of individual, family, couples and group therapies. To obtain program information and application materials on line, please refer to the following website: https://www.advocatehealth.com/education/medical-education/behavioral-health-students/
