Site Name: University of Southern California
Department: Counseling and Mental Health Services
We anticipate contacting candidates no later than 12/10/21 about interview offers via email. To address the economic burden of traveling expenses and the current COVID-19 pandemic, no in-person interviews are offered. Candidates will be invited to interview via zoom. Interviews are one hour long typically with 3-4 staff (staff members, an intern and the training director). Zoom interviews will be offered in January. One Open House will be offered at the end of January to allow candidates to meet with staff, dates to be announced on our website and/or via email to applicants, <https://sites.usc.edu/cmhtraining/>. Requests for personal visits will be referred to the Open House.
Our goal is to prepare interns for the skills needed in a UCC setting: multicultural competencies, intake assessment, short-term therapy, group therapy-including live supervision, crisis intervention, referral screenings, supervision of a practicum student, and outreach programming.
In addition, to the four general positions at CMH, there is one position in the sport psychology track that is commited to providing services to student athletes at USC, with the special emphasis on student athletes of color. Please include which track (or both tracks) you are applying for in your cover letter.
Please visit https://sites.usc.edu/cmhtraining/doctoral-internship-program/ for information on our center and Training Program.
(training opportunities continued)
The sport psychology intern will be working primarily with student atheletes. If an intern in the general track is interested in with working with athletes, opportunities can be provided, however it is not guarenteed.
Additional information about training opportunities: Not all rotations or training experiences may be available as described in the APPIC Directory. Please consult the program's application materials or their website at:
