Interview process description:

Applicants are emailed or called to schedule an interview.  Interviews usually take place during the first two weeks of January.  No phone interviews.  Individual interviews with two faculty. Unable to accommodate requests to meet with specific faculty during interview process. No application fee.  Interview Days begin at 8am and end at approximately 1pm and comprise a program overview, two 45 min. interviews with two faculty with a break in -between, and lunch with an opportunity to meet and speak with faculty and current interns.

Program Description

Our internship in Clinical Psychology is housed within the Division of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Mt. Sinai Beth Israel.  Our program provides a fast-paced, generalist experience in an urban medical center setting.  Our patients include adults, children, and the elderly, are quite diverse and represent the range of DSM5 diagnoses (major affective disorders, personality disorders, substance use disorders, to  name a few)  Treatment intervention techniques are derived from psychodynamic/analytic, CBT, DBT, evidence-based, family systens, trauma focused traditions.

The training experience is comprised three 4-month rotation system includes one elective, adult inpatient, and child outpatient rotations. Year-long clinical experiences include intakes, individual/group psychotherapy, brief psychotherapy, family therapy, neuropsychology, psychological testing, research opportunities. Didactics, case conferences. Extensive supervision provided.  Opportunities to gain supervision experience.  

The cutlure of the program is one of openness, respect, and dedication to clinical service and training of students.   The relationship between Psychiatry and Psychology faculty and trainees is strongly colleagial and creates a supportive, comfortable work environment.
