Interview dates on Tuesday 1/30/2024 Thursday 2/1/2024, Tuesday 2/8/2024.  Interviews include a group meeting with the Training Director and Associate Training Director, individual interviews with track faculty, and a meeting with a current postdoctoral fellow in our program. Interviews will be virtual through the Microsoft Teams platform.

Program Description

The postdoctoral clinical psychology program offers 7 positions and provides intensive supervised training in clinical psychology with an emphasis in Substance Use Discorders (2 positions), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/Substance Use Disorder (PTSD/SUD) (2 positions),  Health/Rehab Psychology (1 position), LGBTQ+ Healthcare (1 position), and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (1 position). Postdoctoral psychology fellows in the Substance Abuse emphasis area address problems with chemical dependency as members of interdisciplinary teams. They combine psychological assessment with individual and group psychotherapy to conceptualize the psychosocial needs of the substance-abusing Veteran, and facilitate the patients' development of coping strategies without the use of substances. These residents also actively participate in all interdisciplinary treatment team meetings. The PTSD fellows working within the Trauma team of our hospital. One fellow may also emphasize substance use via working on the addiction team for part of the year. The PTSD/SUD fellows woth within the Trauma Team for 6 months and on the SUD team or Homeless Domiciliary team for 6 months to gain specialized addiction experience. The Health Psychology fellows completes two 6-month rotations within a medical rehabilitation setting working with geriatric patients and a medical rehabilitation team working with those with spinal cord injuries. A minimum of 2 hours per week of individual supervision with a licensed psychologist on their emphasis area team, one hour of supervision associated with their Evidence Based Psychotherapy, and one hour of group supervision with the Training Director is provided, and the resident will attend training seminars and case conferences throughout the year. Applicants must have received a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology and a completed a predoctoral internship, both accredited by the American Psychological Association.
