Required training activities include supervised experience in individual and group therapy; training in provision of supervision to practicum students; two integrated assessments (personality our neurodevelopmental (ADHD)); opportunities for crisis intervention (on-call and walk-in coverage); participation in weekly supervision of supervision and weekly training seminars (clinical issues / professional issues / diversity); consultation with faculty/staff/parents; participation in psychoeducational outreach presentations and events; participation in staff and intern case seminars; participation in weekly staff meetings; learning program development through outreach training. Additional relted training is required/offered to the sports psychology intern.
Note the internship has a sports psychology track, but the basic requirements for this intern are the same as described above.,
In addition to these general training activities, optional rotations are available. Optional rotations currently include:
1) EMDR
2) Love/Attraction and Identities
3) Provision of clinical supervision
4) Couples counseling with live observation team approach
5) Counseling center administration
6) Eating Disorders
7) Addiction Rotation
8) Religion and Spirituaity rotation
9) Outreach
Rotation offerings are subject to change based on staff availability.
Professional development activities throughout the year include attending Texas Counseling Center Intern Conference and attendance at local professional workshops (dependent on available funding). Interns are also given additional professional development leave (5 days) for job interviews, conference attendance, and/or dissertation-related work.
