Brief description of the typical work day for an intern at this training site As JCIC is a consortium, a typical work day depends on the different rotations. The interns weekly schedule is designed to maximize learning opportunities. Each week, interns spend 4 days in clinical placements (including both core and elective rotations) and one day a week (Wednesday) in didactic training, seminars, multi-discplinary treatment teams, and group supervision.

Interview process description:

Interviewees are provided 2 dates from which to choose (tentatively 01/11/2021 or 1/23/2021).  If needed, a 3rd date will be added. Dates fill on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Interviews are scheduled in the morning (9am-12pm EST) or the afternoon (1pm-4pm EST).  Applicants have a group forum for information and questions with training director and staff, followed by 3 individual evaluative interviews. During the evaluative interviews, potential interns are matched with staff with whom they have indicated an interest at that site. After these evaluative interviews are completed, a nonevaluative informational session with members of the current internship cohort is conducted. This nonevaluative session allows potential interns to openly talk with current interns.  

Due to Covid-19, virtual interviews will also be offered via Zoom.

Program Description

This is a Consortium that includes a community mental health setting (child, family, and adult treatment modalities), a child/adolescent residential facility, an adult psychiatric hospital, and a forensic unit. Interns choose their placements along with input from the training director.
