Brief description of the typical work day for an intern at this training site Interns gain clinical experience through Major (20-24 hours weekly) and Minor (12 hours weekly) rotations, with an additional 4 hour weekly psychotherapy experience for VA interns. Rotations are primarily clinical and consist of intakes, treatment planning, intervention, and assessment (both neuropsychological and general) depending on the nature of the rotation. Program Description

The Missouri Health Sciences Psychology Consortium (MHSPC) is comprised of a partnership between the Harry S. Truman Memorical Veterans Hospital and the University of Missouri's Department of Health Psychology.  The internship program ascribes to a scientist-practitioner model and is intended to enhance current skills, develop new skills, and encourage personal and professional growth. The primary objective of the internship is to provide integrated and flexible learning experiences to assist in the emergence of competent, ethical, and professional psychologists. This objective is achieved through the following methods: (a) training in a breadth of clinical skills central to the practice of psychology: (b) training in content areas relevant to an intern's career goals; and (c) training in the ethical and professional standards that form the basis of psychological practice.  MHSPC partners are located in close proximity which permits interns to design an internship experience uniquely relevant to their particular interests and goals.  As a consortium, we offer a diverse range of training venues with exposure to both adult and pediatric populations.  The Consortium provides supervision from a diverse group of psychologists with specialized areas of expertise. Toward strengthening diversity awareness, the training program recognizes and cherishes the dignity of each individual regardless of age, culture, faith, ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or social class. The training program is motivated to expose the intern to depth and breadth of training opportunities while further promoting a culture of learning, appreciation, and understanding.
