Interview process description:

Interview invitations are extended by email after the application closing date and interviews are scheduled by email in early December for dates in December and January. Interviews will be conducted remotely, either via telephone or teleconference, and we may have an option for in-person interviews for those interested (TBD). These will include individual interviews with members of our training faculty and a group meeting with our current interns and training director for general information and Q&A. Contact information is also provided for past/current interns for additional questions. Interviews will be scheduled in December 2026 and early January 2027.

Program Description

We prepare future psychologists for professional practice in public behavioral health and to provide emergency and continuing care to a diverse client population with a wide range of severe and persistent behavioral health needs. Services include behavioral health evaluation, crisis intervention, community outreach, consultation, and psychotherapy for individuals, families, and groups. All interns gain supervised clinical experience in crisis stablization, intake assessment, general outpatient practice, and community-based service delivery to a broad-range population. Each intern spends approx. 2-3 days working within an interdisciplinary team and will provide behavioral health services in outpatient and community settings to adults and older adults with varying degrees of severe and persisitent challenges.  All interns receive supervised training in providing integrated psychology services, including individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, intake, and psychodiagnostic testing. And all interns may chose to focus their training (for example, remain at Crisis, continue working on intakes, etc) in a particular program or treatment area during the training year.  Interns may also provide behavioral health services to child, adolescent, adult, and older adult clients in outpatient behavioral health and community settings. Training emphasizes strengths-based, family-oriented interventions that address effects of trauma, immigration, acculturation and socioeconomic disparities. Practice opportunities include school-based interventions, in-home services and field-based services, and psycho-education outreach taking place in the community, online, and printed media.  ** Please note that, though there may be the opportunity to work forensically in our system during internship, we have discontinued our STAR forensic track.  We thank you for your interest and encourage you to apply to our program.   ** Please note that our LFH track has also been discontinued.  Provided there is program capacity, supervision in Spanish for bilingual Spanish Speaking trainees will be provided, as will increased stipends.
