Many who dream of becoming a psychologist envision a vibrant private practice setting: a secure office brimming with personality where patients feel safe, and where deep work happens. This dream can unfortunately become lost in the minutia of graduate school work and appealing to internship programs. Private practice is often touted as a supplemental, risky endeavor, and is less often depicted as a process by which growth, community, and prosperity take place. The Alliance Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship aims to build upon the private practice dream.
Whereas other practices only label themselves as a group, Alliance proudly commits to being one. We recognize the three necessary pillars of a thriving practice: the individual, the group, and the organization. As such, case conferences and business meetings are weekly fixtures at Alliance. Fueled by psychodynamic conceptualization and interdisciplinary work, we also prioritize group process dynamics and diversity.
Much like we would not approach clinical work by treating symptoms alone, we will not take a “box checking” approach to your training. We are interested in what drew you to the field of psychology, and will prioritize your development through APA-approved continuing education, didactics in psychotherapy and psychological testing, opportunities to provide family therapy and projective assessments, as well as maintaining a diverse caseload. These factors will become the foundation for quality, depth-oriented care and sustainable business practices.
This year-long fellowship embraces the practitioner-scholar model of clinical and counseling psychology, prioritizing psychological practice that is informed by research, theory, and consultation. The Alliance Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship is a full-time position, requiring Fellows to be present on site approximately 40 hours per week.
