Program Description

We offer three postdoctoral residencies in Clinical Psychology; one each in the emphasis areas of trauma/PTSD & substance use, Geropsychology, and health psychology. The structure of the program allows for specific training in the above clinical areas, as well as additional training experiences of the residents' choices; including medical psychology, pain psychology, community reintegration and recovery services (PRRC/Honor Center), inpatient psychiatry/psychology, primary care mental health integration (PC-MHI), substance use, clinical neuropsychology, women's primary care clinic, and geropsychology (among others). Our brochure describes each of the emphasis area training experiences, as well as the additional training experiences listed (Psychology Training Program | VA North Florida Health Care | Veterans Affairs). The program also includes ongoing supervision experience with our APA accredited internship program's doctoral interns and practicum students. Our Medical Center is a large, comprehensive university-affiliated facility with over 80 doctoral level psychologists and multiple treatment milieus and theoretical modalities. Residents can expect to be collaborative partners in the development of their training plans for the year, and will receive a comprehensive training experience while also developing a specialized knowledge and skill base in their respective emphasis area. Many of our past residents have gone on to VA careers in an area related to or consistent with their emphasis area training.
