Brief description of the typical work day for an intern at this training site Interns work a full-time schedule, roughly 8-5 each weekday. They are primarily placed at one consortium training site, providing direct clinical care and assessment services to individuals across the lifespan, using a variety of modalities. Interns also provide and receive interdisciplinary consultation on a regular basis. All interns come together via video-conference bi-weekly for shared didactics and supervision. Each consortium site is unique in its service population and treatment structure, and thus applicants should consult the internship website for details about each training site.

Interview process description:

Candidates will interview with each site for which they have been offered an interview and will also have an opportunity to meet with the larger consortium training staff. Interview formats include interviews, town halls, and opportunities to meet our current interns. Interviews for the 2024 interview cycle are expected to be held with options for in-person or virtual in early/mid-January (see dates on the CO-PIC website). Candidates selected for the interview process will be notified no later than 11/22/2024 via email. Interview dates are scheduled on a first-come, first-scheduled basis. If there are any questions or concerns about interview schedules, please communicate them directly with CO-PIC Training Director via email.

COVID-19 Update: The Colorado Psychology Internship Consortium is closely monitoring the COVID-19 crisis. We are doing our due diligence around equitability and safety measures with regard to the 2024-2025 cohort application and interview process. CO-PIC strongly prefers in-person interviews and we expect this to be the format for our upcoming interview season; however, safety is a number one priorty. All interns who match to CO-PIC sites must provide proof of citizenship or legal residency and must successfully pass a background check before beginning employment. The intern at STRIDE and EVBH also must provide results from a tuberculosis (TB) screening test from the previous 12-months. All CO-PIC sites require interns to provide proof of vaccination for COVID by the start of internship. Interns may also be required to maintain vaccination status with boosters as suggested by the CDC throughout their internship year. Instructions for providing information or completing the background check will be sent out to all who match after the match is complete.

Program Description

The Colorado Psychology Internship Consortium’s (CO-PIC) mission is to prepare and retain psychologists to provide high quality behavioral health care for Coloradans of all ages. CO-PIC represents the collaborative effort of five organizations - Bright Future Foundation, STRIDE Community Health Center, Your Hope Center, Code-4 Counseling, and Vail Health Behavioral Health (formerly Eagle Valley Behavioral Health)- to share resources and faculty for the purpose of providing a diversified educational program for psychology interns. Training takes place in 5 trainings sites across two geographic areas of Colorado: Eagle County and the Metro Denver Area.

The Colorado Psychology Internship Consortium (CO-PIC) offers a one-year, full-time APA Accredited doctoral internship beginning and ending in July each year. The Consortium will provide a range of clinical and didactic experiences that represent the necessary depth and breadth required for future professional practice with Colorado’s rural and underserved populations. Interns will have a primary placement at one site. All interns will meet in-person for shared training activities at least three times throughout the internship training year, and will participate in training together virtually via videoconference on a weekly basis.
