Brief description of the typical work day for a postdoc at this training site Residents are engaged in the range of training activities appropriate to the postdoctoral level including supervised direct service delivery involving individual and group psychotherapy, supervision, provision of supervision, clinical team meetings, seminars and didactics, program development meetings, staff-level meetings as appropriate and administrative duties.

Interview process description:

Interview dates are TBD (as of November 2023), but are likely to be held during 2 weeks in the months of January - weeks of January 22 and January 29. Applicants are notified about interview decisions either by phone or email. Requests to meet with specific staff are welcome. The interview dates and days (to be determined) begin with an overview by the Directors of Training and then candidates will meet with focus area interviewers. Interviews are between 30-60 mins each, most often individual, but sometimes with a group of interviewers. If you happen to interview with more than 2 focus areas, it is possible that more than 1 day of interviewing will be needed.

Program Description

For 2024-2025, the San Francisco VA Health Care System will be offering thirteen (13) one-year postdoctoral psychology residencies with focus areas in: Geropsychology, Palliative Care and Hospice, Integrated Care Psychology (3 positions), Interprofessional LGBTQ+ Healthcare, , PTSD and Returning Veterans, PTSD and Substance Use Disorders, Substance Use, PTSD and Co-occuring Disorders (2 positions), Trauma-Focused, Community Mental Health (2 positions located at the Santa Rosa CBOC), and Women's Mental Health and Trauma.
 
In addition, there is one (1) opening for a Clinical Neuropsychology Resident for the specialty accredited, 2 year, Clinical Neuropsychology Residency Training Program.
