Emphasis Training in Domiciliary Care for Homeless Veterans (DCHV) Program
The DCHV Program in Building 66 is a time-limited residential rehabilitation treatment program that addresses the co-occurring disorders and complex psychosocial barriers which contribute to homelessness. Eligible Veterans of all ages are provided rehabilitative and treatment services that focus on their strengths, abilities, needs and preferences rather than on illness and symptoms. These rehabilitative and treatment services aim to address medical conditions, mental illness, addiction and psychosocial deficits. The program provides quality care in a structured, supportive environment to Veterans that require limited supervision in the activities of daily living, are motivated to participate in treatment, are psychiatrically and medically stable and are responsible enough to require minimal staff supervision. The program will serve to facilitate the transition to safe, affordable and appropriate community housing. Veterans will be assisted in choosing, accessing and utilizing community and natural supports needed to be independent, self-supporting, and successful in their individual recovery. For more information, please see brochure.
Emphasis Training in Geropsychology in Integrated Care
The postdoctoral resident in the Geropsychology in Integrated Care Program will spend half their clinical time over the course of the whole year in the Neuropsychology Testing Laboratory to provide the necessary consultation/psychological testing to the CLC Patient Aligned Clinical Team (PACT). The other half of clinically-focused time will be split into two 6-month rotations in a number of possible clinics that allow a focus on geriatric care: the Community Living Center, Home-Based Primary Care, the outpatient Mental Health Clinic, or Primary Care Mental Health Integration. About 5-8 hours per week will be focused on education (e.g. didactic training). For more information please see brochure.
Emphasis Training in Addiction Treatment Program
The James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center Addiction Treatment Program (ATP) offers a “continuum of care” model for Veterans diagnosed with Substance Use Disorders and Co-Occurring Disorders providing postdoctoral residents the opportunity to individualize their training experience. Areas of focus could include Consultation-Liason, Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP) and the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
The mission of the ATP is to provide state of the art, high quality evidence based residential rehabilitation, intensive outpatient, outpatient, outpatient aftercare and care coordination treatment services for Veterans with substance use, mental health, medical and psychosocial challenges. The intent is to provide Veteran centered, non-linear, integrated, strengths based clinical programming, plan of care, treatment plan reviews, transition planning and outpatient and after services to promote the rehabilitation, recovery, health maintenance, quality of life and community reintegration goals identified by the person served. The goal of the ATP is to provide opportunities for Veterans to achieve and maintain their highest level of independent functioning and community reintegration through the provision of residential, outpatient, and case management services designated for improving functional status, sustained rehabilitation gains related to individualized substance use, mental health, medical and psychosocial management and recovery and breaking the relapse cycle.
