The Training Director is responsible for the initail screening of applicants, in which applicants who fail to meet minimum criteria or who raise serious concerns are identified and removed from the applicant pool in order to increase the efficiency of the selection process. The Training Director then assigns the remaining cases to two members of the Internship Selection Commitee (typically a senior staff member and junior staff member or doctoral intern) for a thorough review. The Internship Selection Committee meets to discuss all the applicants. All applicants will be contacted by Deccember 1st to inform them of their status and invite appropriate applicants to interviews.
Interviews will occur between December 11th-December 22nd and January 2nd-January 12th. All interviews will occur over Zoom. Candidates are invited to attend two virtual Open House events (one with the Internship Selection Commitee, and the other with the doctoral interns, postdocs, and registered interns) and one in-person Open House event with staff. The Internship Selection Committee meets to determine the ranking of applicants. A list containing the desired applicants in order of their ranking is then sent to the National Matching Service prior to the assigned date.
Our mission is to provide quality training, necessary to facilitate the transitional process from graduate student to an independently practicing psychologist. Our training Model is the Practitioner-Scholar Model, which emphasizes service delivery based on the integration of scientific principles, research, clinical judgment, and client values. Training is designed to provide a supervised and supportive learning environment in which interns continue to develop and refine their skills and abilities in various competency areas and gradually assume increased clinical responsibility. Interns are encouraged and supported in cultivating their own professional style as they progress toward the role of an autonomous psychologist.
