Brief description of the typical work day for an intern at this training site ECI is an organization dedicated to treating forensic populations, including adolescent and adult males with problematic sexual behavior, domestic/intimate partner violence and anger management offenders. Interns would split time between our outpatient offices - Ravenhill Psychological Services, located in Doylestown, PA and Levittown, PA - and one of our residential treatment facilities--PATHS (community-based residential treatment for males ages 12-15). A typical work week for an intern at ECI includes the following training activities: • Completion of forensic psychological assessments including psychological evaluations, psychosexual evaluations, parental capacity evaluations, and violence risk assessments o Adolescent based evaluations may occur at the Bucks County Juvenile Detention Center o Court testimony as needed • Co-facilitation of group for adolescent males in the residential setting • Individual treatment with one to two residential clients • Co-facilitation of two groups in the outpatient setting, referred by probation or parole: either adult males who have sexually offended, or adult males who have been charged for domestic violence or intimate partner violence • Managing a caseload of adolescent males in the outpatient setting, who have been adjudicated delinquent on charges of problematic sexual behavior o Court testimony as needed • Managing a caseload of adult clients in the outpatient setting, referred by probation or parole: adults who have been charged with sexually-based offenses or domestic/intimate partner violence o Court testimony as needed • Monthly communication with stakeholders, including providing written treatment summaries • Weekly documentation of all therapy clients • Three hours of weekly group supervision • Two hours of individual supervision with licensed psychologists • Weekly didactic meetings focused on relevant topics per APA recommendations and evidence-based treatments/best practices.

Interview Process: Edison Court, Inc. holds individual interviews for Phase I during the month of December.  Interviews involve a group presentation, followed by several alternating individual meetings/interviews with program staff that collectively last approximately 3 hours.  Interested applicants, pending a positive review of online application (AAPI), will be contacted by phone to arrange an interview day and time. Interviews will be conducted via video conferencing, as per APPIC requirements.

Application materials, in addition to the AAPI, should include at least three (3) letters of recommendation and an integrated psychological report for either an adolescent or adult client.

Program Description

The pre-doctoral internship at Edison Court, Inc. aims to provide students with a wide array of clinical experiences within a non-profit, community-based agency that offers a continuum of care (residential and outpatient) including individual and group psychotherapy as well as forensic psychological screening and evaluation, multi-disciplinary team involvement, and courtroom exposure.  Interns provide and mange primary therapeutic services to youth who require a higher level of care at  PATHS, one of our residential treatment facilities that offer intensive inpatient treatment curricula as well as community re-entry services in the direction of independent living.  The training program is ideal for students seeking to embed their professional skills by serving a court-referred population, with an emphasis upon services for juvenile delinquents (often presenting with sexually problematic behavior), and outpatient clients of all ages.  The training lends itself to agency, forensic, and private practice settings.
