Interview process description:

We strongly prefer interviews to be in person, individual interviews, that involve a face to face discussion about our programs and the interns background and interests. Interviews are typically 1- 1.5 hours long and involve a tour of our facility to get acquainted with some of our staff, clinicians and facilty.

We often interview 7-10 applicants, and see if we can arrange opportunities for our applicants to meet with one of our current predoctoral interns.

In addition, I highly encourage prospective applicants to get in touch with us via email to get the contact information for one of our current Doctoral Interns.  Most folks find it helpful and reassuring to speak with our current interns and glean information about the their experience with our clinic prior to applying for a postion here.

Program Description

We offer two predoctoral internships here at APC, both being generalist positions with opportunties to work with children, adolescents and adults.  Arrowhead Psychological Clinic is a private outpatient mental health clinic with 5 doctoral licensed psychologists and 2 post docs, 1 masters levels clinical social worker and 2 predoctoral interns. APC has recently relocated into their newly remodeled clinical buildng located in central Duluth.  We serve a wide variety of clientele from the preschool to geriatric ages. We have specialized services in the area of couples counseling, preschool assessments and interventions, sports psychology and anger management. We are not a community mental health center that offers multiple outreach services to serious and persistently mentally ill, however, we do provide outpatient services to this population. We have been offering a doctoral internship for the past 6 years and the students involved have provided positive feedback about our placement. If you are interested in our site I would encourage you to call and speak with one of our current interns to get feedback on their experience here. We offer two predoctoral internships here at APC, one that is more focused on children and adolescent areas and one placement that is more of a generalist position.
