Brief description of the typical work day for an intern at this training site Two major clinical rotations (4 days/ week for 6 months each) OR major rotation (3 days/week for 6 months and one minor rotation 1 day/ week) Half day/ week in research /program evaluation work. Half day/ week (Friday) for Seminar Series and Group Discussion Supervision. One Friday/ month is an unscheduled work day. Typical work day depends on rotation but will include clinical work (assessments, individual or group treatment), meetings, supervision, documenting and administrative work.

Interview process description:

Interviews will be conducted Jan 21- Feb 4, 2025.

Applicants will have an individual interview (~90 minutes) conducted with a panel of 2-4 psychologists. 

Interviews will be virtual. 

Applicants are welcome to request to meet with specific staff if desired.

Applicant interviews are primarily rated based on the fit between the applicant's residency goals and experience and opportunities offered at Waypoint while being mindful of equity, diversity, inclusion indigeneity and access considerations. In addition, consideration will be given to clinical preparedness demonstrated by experiences to date and interviews.

Other Requirements: Residents are required to have up-to-date immunizations as per Waypoint’s Communicable Disease Surveillance policy and Regulation 965, Section 4, under the Public Hospital Act. Residents are required to be fully immunized against COVID-19 as per Waypoint’s COVID-19 Immunization Policy, subject to the duty to accommodate under the Ontario Human Rights Code. Residents will adhere to any current mask requirements in place at the Hospital. Residents will also complete an N95 mask fit test at the start of their residency, and wear one as required. The area that seals to the face must be clean shaven for the mask fitting (accommodations under the Ontario Human Rights Code must be made in writing in advance). Residents are required to provide a recent (6 months at start of residency) satisfactory criminal records check for service with vulnerable sector. Residents are required to obtain professional liability insurance (minimum CA$10M professional liability per claim/aggregate limit). Program Description

Located in beautiful Georgian Bay, only two hours drive north of Toronto, Waypoint Psychology Residency Program provides generalist training across a breadth and depth of rotations in a large mental health care centre.  Potential rotations include inpatient, outpatient and a forensic assessment program. A scientist-practitioner model is utilized with residents having the opportunity to deliver quality, evidence-based assessment and treatments. Supervisors are knowledgeable and invested and come from a breadth of backgrounds and experiences.

There are two resident positions available. Residents will complete at least two rotations for 6 months each.  Major rotations can be 4 days/week OR 3 days and in combination with a minor rotation x 1 day. Rotation selection will depend on resident's interest and training needs and supervisor availability. Residents will also complete a research or evaluation project (0.5 day/ week) and participate in the Seminar Series and Group Discussion/ Supervision (0.5 days/ week).
