Other Requirements: Effective August 26, 2021, Baycrest has implemented a mandatory vaccination policy for all new hires. It is a condition of employment that new employees provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to the start date of employment. This means that all new employees must have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada prior to their start date. In addition, it is a condition of employment that all new hires obtain and submit proof of all required doses of the vaccine and maintain all booster vaccines as approved and recommended by Health Canada. Applicants who have appropriate written proof of a medical reason, or a reason pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code, for not being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 may provide such documentation to the Human Resources department. Such situations will be considered on a case-by-case basis in compliance with Baycrest’s legal obligations. Within the first two weeks of employment, interns are required to complete a Health Evaluation in the Occupational Health and Safety Department. This includes completing a two-step TB skin test or documentation of any previous TB Skin testing. Documentation of up-do-date immunizations will also be required. Fit testing of the N95 respirator mask has been mandated by Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long Term Care for healthcare workers. When conducting the test, and in instances requiring wearing the mask, all Baycrest staff (including interns) must be clean shaven where the respirator seals to the skin of the face or neck. As per Occupational Health and Safety, religious accommodation is available, where the individual would be exempt from performing work or visiting areas where an N95 mask is required.
Program Description

The mission of the Pre-doctoral Internship in Clinical Neuropsychology at Baycrest is to educate, train and evaluate our interns in order to support achievement of competence in evidence-based, clinical neuropsychological practice and research. Our mission is accomplished through a model of training that consists of the following components: (1) staged and sequential development of clinical skills throughout the internship; (2) acquisition of critical thinking skills to evaluate evidence applicable to clinical practice; (3) integration of research into practice by development of skills in outcome measurement; (4) mentorship by faculty to foster the interns’ professional development.

We value and model the close integration of care, research and education in all professional activities. We strive to provide our interns with the knowledge of current, best-practice in provision of neuropsychological services, exposure to evidence-based research in clinical neuropsychological practice and the opportunity to develop skills in intervention for cognitive disorders.  We aim to equip our interns with the core skills and competencies involved in delivery of neuropsychological services including professional consultation, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, clinical research and providing useful information to our clients.
