Program Description

Connections Day School (CDS) is a private therapeutic day school, founded in 1998, that serves high-risk children and adolescents who require an alternative school program that is both educational and therapeutic.  CDS utilizes therapeutic, educational, family and community connections to promote social/emotional well-being, academic achievement and personal growth.  CDS Staff Members employ a variety of methods to help students make academic progress, appropriately manage their behavior, and develop and/or improve their coping, problem-solving and social skills.  Staff Members establish and maintain supportive, nurturing relationships with our students by utilizing a combination of respect, humor, empathy, and kindness balanced with firmness (i.e., maintaining high expectations and ensuring that students adhere to established rules and boundaries).  In turn, these relationships can help the students be more open to learning the life skills required for short and long-term success.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals, who have experience working with challenging young people, and are interested in being an active part of our dynamic clinical staff.  Our Doctoral Interns get consistent opportunities to consult and collaborate with our 2 Post-Doctoral Fellows, and provide informal consultation and supervision for our 4 Psychotherapeutic Externs - throughout the years, our Fellows, Interns & Externs have reported this training opportunity to be an extremely valuable learning experience.

Please see the Connections Day School website: http://www.connectionsdayschool.net/ to get general program information; and for specific information about our Internship program, go to the "Clinical Training Program" page of the website, and click on "Doctoral Internship Program".

CDS abides by the APPIC policy that no person at this training site will solicit, accept or use any ranking-related information from any Internship applicant.
