Applications are read and ranked, select applicants are invited for onsite interviews and several dates in Dec. & Jan. are offered in the invitation e-mail. Applicants are interviewed individually by the Training Director as well as by several of the supervisors. Applicants also meet as a group with the Training Director and with the current interns. Six applicants are invited for each date. Snacks are provided.

Program Description

Located in a large general medical teaching hospital, the internship offers diverse experiences with three-month rotations in Outpatient, Adult Inpatient, Partial Hospitalization, and Family Medicine Residency programs. Forensic evaluations are an elective part of the outpatient rotation. Interns are exposed to the continuum of mental health care and have opportunities for diverse assessment and short and long term therapy cases. Interns gain experience with all ages, most diagnostic catergories, psychiatric medications and with patients along a continuum of care.  Reading Hospital is part of the Tower Health System which consists of Reading Hospital and the Reading Rehabilitation Hospital as well as five other hospitals in southeastern PA.   More detailed information is available at the website.
