Program Description

The Doctoral Internship in Health Service Psychology at Casa Pacifica is APA accredited and has been training interns since 2006.  The internshp was in hiatus for the 2022-2023 training year but is offering training for the 2023-24 training year.  Casa Pacifica serves at risk youth and their families across a range of programs including: Transitional Youth Services (ages 18-21 for foster youth aging out of the youth system), a Non-Public School, a short term residential treatment program for abused, neglected and at-risk youth and a short term residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services.  Casa Pacifica is offering two (2) internship positions for the 2023-24 training year, with positions in the residential treatment programs.  Interns will provide mental health services to youth and their families, delivering individual, family and group therapy as well as completing comprehensive psychological assessments.  Interns will be training in DBT treatment of dysruptive behavior and work with attachment interventions to treat complex trauma.  They will also have opportunities for leadership within the clincial teams and systems they work with.  Two hours of individual supervision is provided weekly, with a primary and secondary supervisor, both licensed psychologists.  Two hours of week group supervision is also provded along with weekly two hour diadactic training.
