Applicants are typically invited for interviews by mid-December. Interviews are held from the second week of December through January.
We serve mostly marginalized communities from lower socioeconomic backgrounds; racially, ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse patient population; and includes individuals throughout the lifespan. Presenting problems include chronic and acute medical conditions; medical and psychiatric emergencies; child and adult psychiatric disorders, physical and sexual abuse, substance abuse and dependence. These problems are addressed in a multidisciplinary setting in which interns provide psychological testing and assessment; group, family, and individual interventions; consult and coordinate care with the hospital staff and with law enforcement, child protective services, criminal justice agencies, and social service agencies. Interns work with Attending Physicians (Psychiatrists, Pediatricians, and Specialists), Social Workers, Residents, and other health care professionals. Interns select 4 of 6 rotations which run concurrently from September through August. Separate supervision is provided for each rotation including Long-term and Family Therapy Supervision.
