11/1/2020: Please Take Note: In a flurry of budget cuts, hospital administration have eliminated our 40 year internship (32 years accredited) beginning with the 2021-22 training year. All applicants have been notified. We continue with our accredited internship through August 2021 as our final intern cohort graduate. Please contact Dr. Berry with any questions or needs: sharon.berry@childrensmn.org or 612 813 6727. I am so sorry for any inconvenience and share your disappointment. Sharon Berry, PhD, ABPP
General clinical child/adolescent psychology internship in a Children's Hospital, with additional training opportunities in Pediatric Psychology and Neuropsychology. All interns will have involvement in all services but those desiring postdoctoral fellowships in these specialized areas will gain additional experience to be competitive for these programs. Non-rotational internship: interns will be involved with outpatient therapy, assessment, and inpatient consultation-liaison all year long, changing placements and/or supervisors at six months to include other experiences. Interns also participate in a community placement when available for additional consultation experience, which may include a community agency, parent education/training, or private practice pediatric clinics (placement availability varies each year). Interns are expected to complete 4 formal presentations each year: psychology topic presentation, research presentation, multicultural case presentation, and community presentation. We have two primary campuses, with two interns in Minneapolis and one in St. Paul, interns travel between campuses for didactic seminars (unless through videoconferencing) and have frequent contact with each other (mileage is paid).
(training opportunities continued)
Additional information about training opportunities: Not all rotations or training experiences may be available as described in the APPIC Directory. Please consult the program's application materials or their website at: www.childrensmn.org/childpsych/ for a complete description of the training opportunities available at this training site.
