Site Name: VA Central Iowa Healthcare System
Department: Psychology - Mental Health Service Line
On-site interviews are held on the 2nd and 3rd Thursdays in January. Interview days are generally one day in length and start around 9:00am and finish around 4:00pm, although this may vary slightly depending upon each year's specific schedule. Applicants selected for an interview will be notified via e-mail and will be asked to select one of the two interview dates available.
Our on-line Internship Brochure is available at: http://www.centraliowa.va.gov/services/Psychology_Internship_Program.asp. It contains additional program information, such as examples of the rotations that either are currently offered or are planned for the coming internship year. If additional information is desired after reviewing the Brochure, our Internship Program Manual is available in electronic format upon request. The program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association (our last site visit was completed in October 2019).
We emphasize and promote diversity. Psychology at VA Central Iowa has an active program of minority recruitment and solicits applications from minorities and other historically disadvantaged groups, such as those with physical challenges. Consequently, students from diverse backgrounds (e.g., ethnicity/race, lifestyle, disability) are strongly encouraged to apply.
