All interviews are conducted via Zoom video conferencing. Video conference interviews are usually 45 minutes in length with about 10-15 minutes for applicant questions. The intern selection committee, which includes both psychologists and current interns, will be present for the video conference interview. Applicants may be invited for a 2nd interview.
The CSDC internship embraces a philosophy of experiential learning and provides practitioner-scholar training. Emphases of the training program include: (a) facilitating the psychological development of university students; (b) acquiring multicultural awareness, knowledge, and skills within a diverse and international university community; and (c) integrating ideas and strategies from several different theories of psychotherapy. Interns receive training and are expected to develop competence in nine areas: (1) Research; (2) Ethical and legal standards; (3) Individual and cultural diversity; (4) Professional values, attitudes, and behaviors; (5) Communication and interpersonal skills; (6) Assessment; (7) Intervention; (8) Supervision; and (9) Consultation and interprofessionaly/interdisciplinary skills. Full-Time status is guaranteed 1900 hours. However, all trainees have been able to clock 2000 hours.
