Program Description

The Clinical Psychology Internship Program at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center is located at Fort Gordon, Georgia (Augusta, Georgia). Our internship philosophy is based on a general practitioner model that focuses on psychological assessment, psychotherapy, and consultation.  The training that interns receive is organized into 4 core rotations (approximately 12 weeks long): Adult Assessment, Clinical Health Psychology, Neuropsychology, and Military Psychology as well as 1 long-term therapy experience (entire year): Outpatient Behavioral Health Service.  Interns also participate in military officer professional development. The primary goal of this Internship is to train clinical psychologists who are capable of functioning with professional autonomy in a variety of applied settings in the Army and in the local community, using evidence based treatments informed by the scientific literature.

Please see our website at: http://eisenhower.amedd.army.mil/EducationResearch/SitePages/Clinical%20Psychology%20Internship%20and%20Residency%20Program.aspx

A yearlong post-doctoral residency is available for those who complete their dissertation by the end of internship.

For the 2019-2020training year, we will accept 6 full-time interns who enter active duty as commissioned officers at the rank of Captain.  Interns will likely attend the Direct Commission Course (DCC) at Ft Sill, OK for approx 4 weeks and then attend the Basic Officer Leadership Course at Fort Sam Houston, Texas (San Antonio, Texas) for approx 9-10 weeks prior to beginning internship in Fall 2019.
