The Internship Training Program at the Institute for Child and Family Health, Inc. (ICFH), a non-profit community health center, has been accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) since 1991. The ICFH serves a broad client population from diverse cultural backgrounds presenting with a variety of behavioral, emotional, and health difficulties. The internship program provides experience in individual, group, and family therapy; psychological assessment with 10 comprehensive batteries completed during the year; and consultation with parents, teachers, and a variety of mental health professionals. The psychology internship class consists of six students. Three of the six interns are placed at one of ICFH's two main outpatient clinics. Two interns are placed in the Infant Mental Health Program. One Intern is placed in an outpatient clinic with a focus on providing school-based therapeutic services.Interns receive both individual and group supervision on a weekly basis. Didactic activities include weekly case conferences and seminars covering a range of topics including theory, assessment, intervention, and professional practice issues.
